There will be brighter days!

The Lexicon is delighted to announce a new community art project in Princess Square to recognise that while the last year has been difficult for us all… there will be brighter days ahead!
As spring approaches, the days get brighter and the leaves return to the trees, The Lexicon is encouraging the community to come together to help to grow it’s own special Handprint Tree.
Over the next ten weeks, children, adults and budding artists are being asked to download a template for The Lexicon Handprint Tree. Designs should be created using the colours of the rainbow, helping the tree to grow with gorgeous leaves, as the brighter days approach. The handprints can be filled with drawings of everything we love, whether that’s a smiley face, a hello, pretty nail art, a favourite food, hobby, message, bright, pretty colours or anything that brings a smile.
Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon says:
“We are so excited to bring our tree to life, filled with meaningful messages, bright colours and all of those things that just make us smile. We’re hoping to add 100 handprints to the tree each week for ten weeks to bring an extra helping of light to The Lexicon, and bring us all together. As soon as it’s safe to do so, we look forward to everyone visiting The Lexicon Handprint Tree to find their design, and of course bring some smiles to the faces of our customers.”
- Choose a colour or colours of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink) to create your design and unleash your inner artist!
- Fill only the handprint with anything you like....
- Don’t forget to add your name (and age if you wish) on to your design.
- Email your entries (at the highest resolution possible at A4 size) to firstname.lastname@example.org or
- Place them in the aubergine postbox by Phase Eight (The Avenue) at The Lexicon.
The designs will be displayed in Princess Square and may also be shared with media and via The Lexicon’s social media accounts with the designer’s first name.
We want to make our tree as big as possible, and we can’t wait to see your entries help our tree grow bigger and brighter every week.
The Lexicon Brighter Days Handprint Tree will be on show in Princess Square from Monday 12 April until Sunday 6 June – so there’s plenty of time to come and find your handprint when you visit the town centre!
