From 24 November, you can shop to the sounds of Christmas as we welcome a variety of local music groups who will be performing all of your festive favourites. We’ve got carol singers, choirs, jazz and brass bands, string quartets and handbell ringers, so warm up those vocal chords and get ready to sing your heart out!
Friday 6 December
Bracknell Churches Choir – 6:00pm – Union Square next to Bills Restaurant
One Step Closer Choir – Bracknell churches will be coming together to sing, celebrate and welcome in Christmas in the town centre. There will be festive favourites for all to join in, as well as the vocal talent of singers and choristers from churches in and around the town centre, directed by John Weeks, Music Director at St.Joseph’s and the Rev’d Malcolm Chalmers, Associate Priest at Holy Trinity. We will also be handing out children’s Christmas story books and other goodies.
Saturday 7 December
Vocalese – 3:30pm – Union Square next to Bills Restaurant
This fun community choir is open to anyone aged 16 and over and they’re all about singing. Singing for fun, singing for your physical and emotional health and singing to feel good and stay young!
Sunday 8 December
Platform YP – 11:00am – Union Square next to Bills Restaurant
Each and every child’s personality is embraced at Platform YP, where they are encouraged to learn and develop in a friendly, informal and fun environment. Their classes are intentionally kept to small groups, enabling each child to have their own time and space to shine without pressure or intimidation. All classes are tailored to specific age groups and abilities.
St Lawrence Chobham Handbell Ringers – 2.30pm – Outside M&S on The Avenue
Based in Chobham, Surrey, this talented group provides an ear-catching tune ringing performance, with two five octave sets of Whitechapel handbells, combined with bass and treble bells to extend the range.

Bracknell Choral Society – 11:00am – Union Square next to Bills Restaurant
Bracknell Choral Society was formed in 1960 with a membership of fourteen…it has now grown to a group of 130 singing members! The group performs three major concerts each season, with professional soloists and orchestral players. Their repertoire spans more than 400 years and includes rarely heard work, as well as more familiar and popular songs.
The Jazz Lions – 2:30pm – Outside M&S on The Avenue
Come and listen to some swinging cheerful numbers brought to you by the Jazz Lions, featuring tenor saxophonist, James Akers, who is in his final year studying Jazz Saxophone at Trinity Laban. James is in demand on the London scene and plays regularly with bands including Ataraxia, the Levitation Orchestra, Etuk Ubong, Dani Diodato and Corazon Cuestino; he is also a fine vibes player. The Jazz Lions can be heard regularly accompanying visiting artists in the monthly Bracknell jazz gigs at South Hill Park Arts Centre and in the Lion Brewery in Ash.
The band is led by pianist and trombonist, Simon Cook who directs Bracknell Jazz (www.bracknelljazz.co.uk) and teaches in the music department at Royal Holloway University of London. The Jazz Lions also features rising star, Rudy Cook on double bass.

Wokingham Brass Band – 11:00am – Outside M&S on The Avenue
Formed by Frank Every, grandfather of scaba President Norman Every in 1931, Saint Sebastian Wokingham Band is a friendly 2nd-section band with an active social life. It is also a contesting band, primarily at the National Competition (Area) and contests organised by scaba (Southern Counties Amateur Bands Association).
Thursday 19 December
The Ascot Community Choir – 11:00am – Union Square next to Bills Restaurant
Ascot Community Choir has been singing on Thursday mornings in South Ascot since January 2017. The mixed choir sings a variety of folk, pop, show tunes and light classical music. The choir performs several times a year and raises money for local and national charities. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to join!
Thames Voyces Choir – 6:30pm - Union Square next to Bills Restaurant
Thames Voyces is a chamber choir based at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell, Berkshire, attracting choral singers and audiences from many miles around the area. The choir pursues a love of singing through a wide repertoire of choral works, from earlier music through to the present day, whilst aspiring to reach the highest possible standards.
Saturday 21 December
Salvation Army Band – 11:00am – Outside M&S on The Avenue
Maidenhead Salvation Army Band returns to present a programme of traditional carols and contemporary Christmas music. The band has been active for more than one hundred years and plays a leading role in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, including participation in the November Remembrance parade and St. George's Day parade in Windsor. They also provide music for the Annual Memorial Service at Easthampstead Park Cemetery and Crematorium each September.

The Barberettes – 11:00am – Union Square next to Bills Restaurant
An entertaining chorus with a wide repertoire of popular and seasonal songs, including ballads, pop hits and barbershop classics.
