The Lexicon Launch Weekend

from 7 Sep 2017 to 10 Sep 2017

The countdown has begun. More than 150 local children from primary and junior schools across the borough will make their own little bit of history on 7 September, 2017, when they officially open The Lexicon.

They’ll be helping to bring Bracknell town centre to life as retailers and restaurants open their doors to visitors and and we fill the streets with musicians, magicians, virtual experiences and so much more.

To celebrate we’ll be hosting a huge range of special events and exciting promotions throughout The Lexicon from Thursday 7 September to Sunday 10 September.

See the forests brought to life

A series of interactive virtual screens located throughout the town centre will stimulate your senses as they bring the surrounding forests to The Lexicon in vivid colour.

Be thoroughly entertained

Our carnival-style launch weekend will have something to entertain every member of the family. Watch out for amazing LED-illuminated and floral-themed stilt walkers, incredible magicians, spectacular bubble-ologists, and local musicians, bands, singers and artists wandering the walkways, avenues and squares of The Lexicon.

Find nature and art wherever you go

We’ve commissioned our fantastic artist in residence Kerry Lemon to create pieces of bespoke, nature-inspired art throughout The Lexicon. Her work beautifully reflects and celebrates the borough’s amazing array of green spaces, natural habitats, and flora and fauna that surround the town centre.

Local musicians, bands and singers

Local musicians, bands and singers will also be performing throughout The Lexicon during the extended launch weekend, including performances from South Hill Park, Berkshire Maestros Concert Band, Garth Hill College, Bracknell & Wokingham Community Band and Vocalese choir.

Catch a performance from South Hill Park in Bull Square from 12:00-3.00pm on launch day! While Garth Hill College kick starts the evening musical entertainment in Bond Square at 4.30pm on Thursday, followed by the Roaming Band in Eagle Lane and The Avenue, while Bracknell and Wokingham Community Band will perform in Bond Square from 6.30pm.

On Friday evening, you’ll find the Roaming Band in Bull Square, Princess Square and Eagle Lane from 5.00pm
