From Monday, 12 April 2021, in line with Government guidelines, retailers within The Lexicon, will be reopening their doors for the first time in many months.

The Lexicon is ready for the anticipated increase in shoppers, with an enhanced cleaning programme, including fogging, re-stocked hand sanitisers and signage to assist visitors to keep their distance from other shoppers and safely navigate the town centre.

And, to brighten-up everyone’s visit, shoppers can enjoy the new look rainbow steps in Bond Square, check out the Spring fashion pod outside River Island and of course, the Brighter Days Handprint Tree in Princess Square, packed full of hundreds of colourful designs created by the local community.

Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon says: “We are so looking forward to reopening The Lexicon and welcoming back our customers. Not only are we planning to make shoppers feel as safe as possible but also bring smiles to visitors faces with our new colourful touches.”

Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration said: “It’s been really exciting to see businesses prepare for reopening. It’s an extremely important time for our residents and businesses and I can’t wait for the borough to come alive again after lockdown.  The Lexicon and the council have worked incredibly hard to put measures in place to help keep you safe. Please follow the signage and be kind as you shop. Let’s support our businesses as they recover from the pandemic.”

The Lexicon’s core opening hours are Monday – Saturday, 9am – 6pm and Sunday, 11am – 5pm but customers should also check opening hours with individual retailers and restaurants before travelling.  All al fresco dining at restaurants must be booked in advance.

Town centre facilities including toilets, and the Changing Places facility will also be open during these hours, with social distancing measures and increased cleaning being carried out.  All car parks will be open, with visitors asked to park with space around them where possible and to be conscious of others while getting in and out of cars.  Please respect the safety of fellow visitors, retail workers and The Lexicon staff by keeping a two metre distance and using the hand sanitiser available and do not visit the town centre if you are feeling unwell.
