The Lexicon is proud to offer two registered Changing Places facilities located in The Avenue car park at The Lexicon.
Changing Places offers specialist toilet faciliities for people with profound disabilities, or other conditions that mean they need extra support.
The Changing Places facilities at The Lexicon include an adult-sized and height-adjustable full-size changing bench, a centrally placed toilet with room either side for carers, shower facilities – with one facility also offering a ceiling track hoist designed to be used with loop attachment slings.
Local resident, Suze Woodley, says: “My son has severe cerebral palsy and can’t use toilet facilities like able bodied people. He requires facilities that have a hoist and full size changing bench. The Changing Places facilities at The Lexicon mean that for first time in more than ten years, we can go out for the day shopping, go to the cinema, socialise and stay for something to eat. Without these facilities we could only go out for short periods of time, to prevent discomfort or soreness.”
Paul Johnston-Naylor, General Manager at The Lexicon, says: “Our aim is to make The Lexicon accessible to everyone, and we are pleased to support the ‘Changing Places Changing Lives’ national campaign. We have already received positive feedback from customers, and hope that these facilities continue to make visits to The Lexicon possible for all.”
Cllr Paul Bettison, Leader of Bracknell Forest Council, said: “This type of Changing Places facility makes all the difference in enabling people with certain disabilities to use our new town centre. I'm delighted that The Lexicon is providing accessible toilets so that everyone can visit it without the worry of how and where they can use such facilities.”
The Avenue Car Park’s two Changing Places toilets, are situated on the ground floor, and can be accessed via a radar key.
