In response to the ongoing situation caused by COVID-19, we’ve taken the difficult decision to postpone The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon. As always, the health and safety of our runners, volunteers, staff and visitors remains of utmost importance.

This year’s event will now take place on Sunday 27 September 2020 – and there’s an extra special competitive twist to look forward to!

As well as cheering on friends, family and colleagues, runners and supporters may recognise a couple of other familiar faces taking to the course. Two members of The Lexicon’s security team, Raf and Barry, will be competing against each other on the day to raise money for the town centre’s Charity of the Year, Bracknell Gymnastics Club.

Aiming to complete the half marathon in under 90 minutes, they’ve both been busy training on the stairs at Ocean House, as well as a running and cycling to and from work. They will also be joined by members of The Lexicon management who will by completing the race in a relay team.

All monies raised will help to support Bracknell Gymnastics Club and its local GB selected gymnasts to compete at the European Championships in Portugal later this year, as well as helping to train coaches, and funding new equipment for the Club. The Club currently has 12 members of the British Team and three British title holding teams.

Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon says: “We are really looking forward to welcoming all of the runners, and their supporters on the day for the first Half Marathon to start and finish in The Lexicon!

“Best of luck to everyone taking part – and of course to Raf and Barry!”
