The Lexicon is delighted to announce the return of The Lexicon Proms with five evenings of musical entertainment planned for the summer months. Visitors will be able to sit on the giant steps, which will again be covered in green grass to enjoy the diverse array of bands, singers and choirs.

The first event featuring four acts will take place on Saturday, May 4 2019. Running from 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm in Bond Square, utilising the fabulous new performance canopy for the first time.

Back by popular demand, The Candy Girls, will be performing those all-time boogie woogie favourite songs from the ‘40s and 50s’. With their distinctive vintage flair, the girls’ renditions of war time favourites, swing and rock ‘n’ roll, will have the audience singing along in no time.

New for this season is Remember Monday, a local modern country trio, who recently featured on ITV’s The Voice. The three ladies met at college and last year saw their debut single reach number 1 in the iTunes Country Music Charts. Their mix of mellow and lively country songs is sure to get everyone’s toes tapping.

The third act, local community choir, Vocalese, who whole heartedly encourage the audience to sing-a-long to their extensive repertoire of mainstream pop favourites from the last few decades. Local singer songwriter, Abi Powell will be entertaining visitors with a selection of her own songs and well-known popular favourites.

Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon says: “We had so much positive feedback about The Lexicon Proms last year, that we wanted to bring it back, bigger and better for 2019. It’s free to attend and provides the perfect platform to bring the community together, with a wide range of musical acts appealing to all ages.”

Future The Lexicon Proms will take place on June 1, July 6, August 3 and September 7 2019.
