As a leading, next-generation retail and entertainment venue, The Lexicon has become one of the biggest attractions in the South East, but where did it all begin?
First conceived as a key element in the regeneration of Bracknell Town Centre, The Lexicon quickly become the pinnacle of the redevelopment. Following the opening of the £6 million Waitrose branch in Bond Way, The Lexicon was the next significant retail destination to open its doors to the town’s residents.
After years of careful planning and development, The Lexicon welcomed its first visitors in September 2017. Recognised as one of the most important regeneration projects in recent history, we’re proud to have influenced a number of other redevelopments across the country.
Since our launch, we’ve continued to expand. New retail units have been added and continued developments far exceed the initial 240 million investment made in the town centre. With hundreds of retail and leisure venues, a 12 screen 4DX cinema, two 80,000 sq ft retail stores, eight core buildings, six landscaped squares for activities and events, as well as 3,800 car parking spaces and additional investment in the surrounding highway infrastructure, it’s easy to see why The Lexicon has become a central component of the town.
With more than 16 million people visiting The Lexicon in its first year, the success of the redevelopment has been clear from the get-go. Winning a slew of awards, including Gold in the Re:new category and ‘Best of the Best’ in the Re:turn category, at the Revo Gold Awards 2017, The Lexicon has been recognised as a leading regeneration project by industry leaders, town planners and visitors alike. Going from 255th in the National Retail Rankings to 33rd in just 12 months, The Lexicon has been instrumental in putting Bracknell Town Centre on the map for all the right reasons.
In addition to bringing a plethora of career opportunities to local residents, The Lexicon delivers much-needed retail, leisure and entertainment venues. Drawing visitors from all over the South East, we have enjoyed restoring Bracknell Town Centre back to its former glory and look forward to evolving with our surrounding communities.
Since opening in 2017, The Lexicon has continued to grow and is stronger than ever. Attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, we’re home to a thriving combination of independent shops and major brands. What’s more – we host a wide range of events and activities throughout the year, which gives visitors and local residents a great opportunity to get involved with what’s going on in the town.
Our latest development – The Deck – brings The Lexicon and Princess Square closer than ever before. This covered public space will be home to retail stores, restaurants, leisure venues and even a cocktail bar! Hollywood Bowl and The Botanist are the latest brands to announce their place at The Deck, along with Phase Eight, PureGym and Silentnight. With the potential for an all-round outdoor cinema to be situated at The Deck, we’re excited to bring a whole host of entertainment options to the people of Bracknell.
However, the future of The Lexicon doesn’t stop there. The regeneration of nearby Jubilee Gardens and the creation of 400 new homes will bring a new era to the town – and it’s one we’re certainly part of. Acting as a gateway to the town centre, Jubilee Gardens will bring visitors directly to The Lexicon via an active ground floor, which means it will be easier than ever for visitors to access an endless range of retail stores, restaurants, bars, entertainment and leisure venues.
With so many exciting developments underway, the future of The Lexicon and Bracknell Town Centre is shining brightly. To keep up to date on the latest news, find out what we’ve got in store for you by downloading The Lexicon app now!
