On Sunday May 13, almost one thousand runners crossed the finish line at The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon, raising money for local and national charities.
As well as cheering on friends, family and colleagues, runners and supporters may have recognised a familiar face from The Lexicon’s security team, Raf.
Raf completed the 13.1 miles in 1 hour 46 minutes and has so far raised more than £1,000 for the town centre’s Charity of the Year, Bracknell Gymnastics Club. The Lexicon’s management team also successfully completed the race in a relay team in 2 hours and 22 minutes. Unfortunately Barry from The Lexicon’s security team was unable to take part in the race due to an injury suffered during training.
All monies raised will help to support Bracknell Gymnastics Club and its local GB selected gymnasts to compete at the European Championships in Portugal later this year, as well as helping to train coaches, and funding new equipment for the Club. The Club currently has 13 members of the British Team and three British title holding teams.
Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon said: “We were absolutely delighted to host the first The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon in our new town centre. We’ve had fantastic feedback from retailers and customers alike, celebrating the great atmosphere, particularly at the finish line in Braccan Walk. The event saw a 21% increase in footfall compared to Sunday May 6, and we are already looking forward to next year’s event!”
