The Lexicon is proud to support The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal with the return of the pop-up Poppy Shop and a community-led art installation.
The shop opens on Saturday 24 October 2026 on the High Street, opposite Brown Bag Café. It will be open daily from 10.00am to 4.00pm, until Friday 6 November.
Local community group Crafting Smiles has created a moving remembrance display in The Braccan Walk Pod, featuring 2,000 handmade crochet poppies. The display can be viewed from Friday 23 October. The group has also generously donated a further 1,000 crochet poppies, which will be available to purchase at the Poppy Shop.
Tom Henderson, Centre Director at The Lexicon, said: “Supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal is something we’re proud to do every year, and we’re delighted to be providing the pop-up shop with free space for the sixth-year running. I’d like to thank our colleague Sam, whose dedication truly reflects the spirit of remembrance, along with all the volunteers and community groups whose time and commitment make the shop possible.”
Sam Buckley, Operations Manager at The Lexicon and a former member of the Armed Forces, has volunteered at the shop for the past five years and takes two weeks of annual leave to do so. Sam said: “Remembering those who have served is at the heart of the Poppy Appeal. Last year The Lexicon raised over £44,832, and every penny helps the Legion support veterans, serving personnel and their families. We’d love to beat that total this year, so please stop by and support the appeal.”
Visitors can buy the 2026 poppy pin, traditional paper poppies, Crafting Smiles’ crochet poppies and a wide range of Royal British Legion merchandise, with all proceeds supporting the Poppy Appeal.
