Local creativity takes centre stage at The Lexicon this summer, as dragon eggs designed by students from ten local secondary schools and colleges go on display across the town centre.
As part of The Lexicon’s upcoming event, Dragons at The Lexicon, the students have transformed the eggs into unique works of art for the dragon trail. The trail will feature five impressive animatronic dragons and a 1.6-metre-tall LEGO® dragon alongside the ten beautifully decorated eggs, creating an interactive experience to be enjoyed throughout the summer.
The trail is sponsored by Bracknell-based fine arts manufacturer Daler-Rowney, with each participating school and college receiving a £250 bundle of premium art supplies in recognition of their creativity.
Carola Bustos-Loyola, Trade Marketing Manager at Daler-Rowney, said:
“We’re thrilled to be sponsoring such a fun and creative activation. We can’t wait to see the finished designs on display and celebrate the incredible creativity of students from across the local area.”
The eggs have been repurposed from previous installations at The Lexicon and are now being reused for the fifth time. Each one was returned to a blank canvas before being handed to students, helping to reduce waste and give existing materials a new lease of life.
Sue Boor, Head of Marketing at The Lexicon, said:
“A huge thank you to Daler-Rowney for supporting this year’s dragon trail. We’ve been blown away by the creativity and enthusiasm of all the participating schools and colleges. The students have really gone to town with their designs, and we can’t wait for visitors to enjoy them throughout the summer.
We’ve been so impressed that we’ve even added a QR code next to each egg, so visitors can scan it and tell us which one is their favourite, just for fun!”
The schools participating are Bracknell & Wokingham College, Brakenhale School, Edgbarrow School, Garth Hill College, King's Academy Binfield, King's Academy Easthampstead Park, Ranelagh CE School, Sandhurst School, Kennel Lane School and Hawthorn Academy.
Alongside the trail, visitors can enjoy a packed programme of summer activities, with £1,000 worth of prizes to be won across the summer, including a prize draw for completing the Dragon Activity Leaflet and additional competitions throughout the school holidays.
