Sculptures unveiled

To celebrate World Environment Day on Friday, 5 June 2026, The Lexicon has unveiled four sculpture bases reimagined by local primary school children as part of The Remake Project, a community initiative highlighting the importance of reusing everyday materials.

Pupils from Winkfield St Mary’s, The Pines, Holly Spring and Ascot Heath redressed the former sculpture bases to create colourful displays, using materials destined for landfill that were donated by members of the public, parents and retailers at The Lexicon.

Originally used for an installation in 2018, the sculpture bases were kept by The Lexicon to be reused in future projects, helping to reduce waste and give existing materials a second life.

The finished sculptures are now on display in the unit between Mango and River Island, inviting visitors to see how discarded items can be creatively repurposed instead of thrown away.

Mick Conway, Environmental Services Manager at The Lexicon says:

The Remake Project has been a great way to bring together creativity, sustainability and the local community. We hope the sculptures encourage visitors to think differently about the value of reusing everyday materials.  It’s been fantastic to see the creativity and effort the students have put into the project, and we’re proud to showcase their work ahead of World Environment Day.”
Rachel Tomkins, Headteacher at Winkfield St Mary’s says:

All of the students have loved taking part in The Remake Project and learning more about sustainability in a creative, hands-on way.  Working alongside The Lexicon has given the children the opportunity to collaborate on something that will be seen by the wider community, while also encouraging conversations around recycling, reuse and environmental responsibility.”
